Am I eligible to register my child in a French first-language school?

ADMISSION

Your child must have reached the age of 4 by December 31 of the enrolment year in order to begin junior kindergarten.

 

According to section 23 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, a parent wishing to enrol his or her child in a French-language school must meet at least one of the following criteria:

Rights holder parents

Non-rights holder parents*

His or her native language is French, that is, the first language learned and still understood.

He or she has received his or her education at the elementary level in a French first language education program in Canada

Reacquisition : A Canadian parent with French-Canadian ancestry.

Non-citizen francophone : The parent meets the criteria of section 23 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms except for the fact that he or she is not a Canadian citizen.

He or she is the parent of a child who has received or receives his or her education and the elementary or secondary level in a French first language education program in Canada

New immigrant : The parent is an immigrant to Canada whose child, upon arrival, speaks neither English nor French and is enrolling in a Canadian school for the first time..

If you would like your child or children to attend our schools, you must fill out the registration form, which you can access by clicking the appropriate tab below.

You can download the registration form and bring it directly to the school along with:

 - Birth Certificate

 - Health Insurance Card

 - Immunization Record
