OUR TRUSTEES
The Commission scolaire francophone is led by a District Education Council made up of three representatives from Yellowknife and three from Hay River. The Council meets for 10 regular public meetings. The public is invited to attend these meetings, which include a question period.

What is a trustee?
Trustees are elected by parents. They are responsible for developing the policies that guide the delivery of academic services to students while also taking into consideration the needs of the community as well as legislation and government requirements
What is the role of the trustee?
Their role is to help the Commission scolaire francophone carry out its mandate while remaining true to its mission and goals.

Trustees are committed to working diligently and faithfully to advance the cause of French first-language education.
What are the trustees’ responsibilities?
To communicate with, inform and encourage the involvement of parents, staff and the community with respect to the Commission’s decisions and activities.

To establish the goals and priorities which allow us to achieve the educational standards set by the Northwest Territories, and meet students’ needs in a way that reflects the wishes of the community.
​
To develop and implement policies and guidelines on the standards and expectations for the activities of the administration, teachers and students.
​
To influence the territorial government in order to make progress on priority education issues.
​
To recruit and assess the superintendent.

To guide the education system on behalf of parents.

To ensure the preservation of language and culture.
​
To ensure students receive the highest quality education possible.

To understand and promote the school board’s philosophy, goals and decisions.

OUR POLICIES
At public meetings held on September 18 and October 16, 2017, the Commission scolaire francophone des Territoires du Nord-Ouest adopted the Rules of Procedure for Commissioners as well as new governance policies.
